This surgery will restore the normal lid crease and lid platform and eliminate the puffy, bulging appearance around the eyes. In the lower eyelids, our plastic surgeon performs an “invisible” approach to remove the fat bags from inside the eyelid requiring no stitches or scars on the skin. Blepharoplasty can be combined with laser resurfacing of the skin to further tighten and improve the textural quality of the skin. Laser resurfacing around the eyes will minimize the crepe paper appearance of the delicate eyelid skin.

Many people who have redundant upper lid skin will also have a ptosis or droopiness of the lid position. Much like a window shade that is pulled part way down blocking the upper part of the window, a droopy eyelid can block the upper part of your vision. Surgical repair to elevate the eyelid (ptosis repair) will restore a full field of vision and allow more light to enter the eye. This can be performed at the same time as removal of any excess skin around the eyes for a more refined look. Frequently if the lid blocks the vision this is considered functional rather than cosmetic surgery and may be covered by your insurance.
