Why an In-Office Dermaplane Treatment is Better Than Shaving Your Face

Dermaplaning is a specialized technique, performed only by a highly-trained medical aesthetician. It used to exfoliate the top layer of skin, remove “peach fuzz” polishing the surface.  Interested in how dermaplaning works?

1. Prepare: Cleanse and De-grease the Skin

Prepare your skin by washing your face (we will do this in-office for you-all you’ll have to do is sit back and relax!)  “You have to cleanse to remove all of the bacteria from the skin, and then de-grease to prepare the skin for the procedure, says our Aesthetician Lori.

2. The Procedure:

Feather-like strokes are applied on the skin to remove dead skin cells and vellus hair. After a dermaplaning treatment, your products will penetrate into your skin more efficiently and effectively.

“I love dermaplaning because it makes the skin glowy. Your products will penetrate better and your makeup will apply smoothly on your skin,” exclaims our Aesthetician Charlot Byck.

Now, you may wonder, “can’t I just shave my face?”

The answer is no. That is not the same thing as a dermaplaning treatment. Dermaplaning is more controlled. A dermaplaning treatment is going to hit every nook and cranny on your face, where shaving your face does not get into the small crevices. Plus, you are using a razor when shaving. A dermaplaning treatment involves a surgical blade. This is much more precise and effective.

All of those expensive skincare products will be so much more valuable with routine dermaplaning treatments. The best type of product penetration is directly to the skin-not on top of old, dead skin or vellus hair. Our skincare club is a great option to save money while keeping up with your skincare treatments, like dermaplaning.
