Top Skincare Questions Asked on Google

We have broken down the the most frequently asked questions on Google about Skincare, and our Aesthetician, Charlot, is here to give you all the answers you need.

Can freckles ever be dangerous?

Generally, freckles are not dangerous. They are just a result of sun exposure. If there is anything you aren’t quite sure about, its best to check with your Dermatologist.

How can you minimize pores?

Large pores are a very common concern that I get asked about a lot. They are basically the pores you’re born with. There are ways we can make them look better by making sure they’re not congested-such as regular facial treatments. There are also products that help keep them cleared out, mainly salicylic acids or retinoids. As we get older the pores seem to get larger, and that’s a common concern. So what we do is introduce to the skin modalities such as lasers that will help create collagen and tighten them up a little bit.

What can you do to treat acne, how to get rid of adult acne, how to get rid of acne scarring?

Acne can be caused by a lot of different factors and it can be exacerbated by stress and diet. When people come in we try to assess what is going on, how bad the breakouts are, sometimes they really do need intervention of a Dermatologist to put people on products-oral and topical. But in general, just doing a complete consultation we can come up with a plan whether it be products or treatments to try to get them under control.

How can you get rid of wrinkles?

Of course expression lines, anything above the eye would be best treated with Botox. To prevent wrinkles the two best things you can do is go on some type of retonid product and a sunscreen daily. Once they’re formed, fillers do a great job, and also skincare. Lasers that go a little deeper that stimulate collagen can help minimize them.

Are there any fast-fixes for curing sunburn?

I wish I could say there is a quick fix to increase the comfort. You might want to take a Tylenol or Advil, a cold compress. They even say putting a little rag in milk and laying that on there will soothe it. A little bit of steroid cream helps too. But mostly, wear your sunscreen and avoid the sun!

What exactly is rosacea?

Rosacea, they really don’t know what it is or what causes it. It’s a vascular disorder and its just when our vessels dilate and stay dilated. After you exercise you might be flushed for a longer period of time than most people. Foods can aggravate, you need to know your triggers. To really get the diagnosis, of course, you’ll meet with a Dermatologist. But we also can do treatment for it such as intense pulse light (IPL) to calm it down and an involved consultation going over what’s going on in your life and some recommendations are always good.

How do you get rid of dark circles?

Dark circles are one of the hardest questions to answer. The answer is: there is no quick fix for dark circles. Basically, its hereditary. You can do things that might improve the look. Sometimes fillers will make the light reflect a little bit better. But, its basically, and I’m sorry to tell you this, its hereditary.

Charlot concludes, “So, as you can probably tell, there’s just no one answer to all of your questions. It really does entail coming in for a detailed consultation and really finding out what’s going on in your life such as diet, stress, exercise, and coming up with a plan for you and how to address it.”
