RMA takes on Orange Theory!
- Posted on: Jan 29 2019
We packed up all of our things, said “have a good evening” to our last clients of the day, and headed over to Orange Theory Fitness in Newtown for team workout! We split up into two teams:
The Rejuvenating Rowers vs. The All-Out Anti-Agers (puns intended!)
The experience started out with putting on our heart rate monitors either across our chests or around our arms. There are large screens with everyone’s names on them so it is easy to track your calories. The workout started with some running interval circuits on the treadmill. Then, we moved on to rowing and floor exercises which included burpees, and weighted lunges, just to name a few.
A little bit about Orange Theory and why their concept works:
The Post-Workout Afterburn
Orangetheory is based on the science of EPOC, excess post-exercise oxygen consumption. If you challenge your body at the right intensity, your body will work harder to recover oxygen lost during exercise. This revs your metabolism and makes you burn calories long after your workout is over.
What is the orange zone?
The Orangetheory workout is comprised of five heart rate zones based on your individual heart rate. Our workouts are strategically designed so you spend at least 12 minutes or more in the Orange Zone to get your heart rate between 84 to 91% of your unique heart rate maximum. When your heart rate is elevated, you’ll start to see and feel real changes in your body. These aren’t ordinary workouts you typically find at a local gym.

So, now that you know a little bit more about the workout, here were our results:
Hannah: 680 calories
Roe: 620 calories
Caryn: 571 calories
Kim: 691 calories
Tracy: 325 calories (Full disclosure: Tracy’s arm band fell off her arm mid class!)
Nadine: 526 calories
Overall, we had a wonderful team-building workout and would highly recommend trying it! Call Orange Theory at 215-957-1700 to sign up for your free class today!
